Spiral Scouts or Lone Scouts

It has been forever since I last posted! I haven't had too much to come say but I thought this would be a good thing to ask about. Has anybody ever done Lone Scouts or Spiral Scouts? The Boy Scouts and Cub Scouts meet at bad times for us so I was thinking of trying Lone Scouts but I'm not sure about it and was curious. I also found Spiral Scouts and it sounds pretty cool. It doesn't seem there are any in my area from what I have found so far but I'll keep looking. I can start one with only 1-2 families so that's cool. Does anybody know anything about this? I'd love to hear from you and your thoughts about either one.

Our Science Fair Project

The Road Less Traveled held their first annual Science Fair and we joined them in it. This was so much fun and we hope to do it again next year. Thank you Iain for coming up with this idea, we really enjoyed it!

This picture below is when we were getting everything ready. It is our Diet Coke bottle, Geyser Tube and tube of Mentos. Big Jamey dug a hole and put the Diet Coke bottle into so it didn't fall over.

Big Jamey was filling it with the Mentos. I'm not sure who enjoyed this more, him or the boys!

Jamey Jr. pulled the string to let the Mentos into the Diet Coke.

Big Jamey rescued him and got it working.

We decided to try it again with the other bottle of Diet Coke and Mentos. Here's Jamey getting ready to pull that string again on the Geyser Tube.

It went really well this time and he got it to spray 3 ways!

I couldn't believe when Jamey decided to play in the Diet Coke spray! LOL!

I thought I would also post information on how this works.

Each Mentos chewy mint has thousands of tiny pits all over the surface. These tiny pits are called nucleation sites-perfect places for carbon dioxide bubbles in the soda to form. When the Mentos hit the soda, bubbles form all over the surface of the chewy mints and then quickly rise to the surface of the liquid. Couple this with the fact that the Mentos are heavy and sink to the bottom of the bottle and you've got a double-whammy! When all this gas is released, it literally pushes all of the liquid up and out of the bottle in an incredible soda blast.

Y'all should try it, so much fun!!

Pretzels

Big Jamey and I have been trying different pretzel recipes in search of a good one for those big, soft pretzels. We finally found a great recipe and so tasty! Check this out:

Hangman

The boys and I had finished up schoolwork for the day and Conor wanted to play hangman. So we gathered around the dry erase board in the living room and I did the first one with both of them guessing letters. Conor wanted to do the 2nd turn so he set up the board and got all ready for us. I don't think Conor had any idea what word he was going to do but it sure was fun! He decided whether our letter would be there or not and in the end he made a new word, Anslume... LOL I love when they want to play games like that and they learn while playing but don't even know it. :)

Sunday

Today was one of those days where you just don't want to get out of bed. It was cold and rainy outside and so warm under the blankets. Of course when I start hearing my youngest yelling "MOM" I know it is time to crawl out of the warmth. I made sausage biscuits (from a can, never can seem to get the recipe right) for breakfast which we all loved. We don't eat much meat anymore unless it is chicken or fish, everything else is veggie so it was a treat for all of us.

We have been having issues with our digital cable and have had them out here 2 times trying to figure out what is wrong. Big jamey called them again this morning because it wasn't working at all and the standard cable tvs all had thick, black lines running through them. Of course, like it has been happening, about an hour after it starts working again is when they show up! Actually we were surprised they came at all on a Sunday so we didn't expect to see them until tomorrow morning. He changed our amplifier so maybe this time it will fix it!

I really need some new recipes, do you have any to share? We like about everything. I need some new ways to make cabbage too, if anybody has any ideas.

Well...

As I'm sitting here and trying to decide what to do for my blog page the phone rings. My husband is calling saying our car won't start and he needs us to come and jump start it. He went into work on a Saturday to get some overtime and all of the guys that came in left at the same time but he was the last to get to the car. I always expect him to call with a break down when he is driving our older car but not the Saturn. So I had to get Conor's car seat out of the shed and into the car, then go to his work. The Saturn got started in no time luckily and we were on our way back home. So now I'm back to cleaning and washing our front drapes.
