I haven't had too much to come say but I thought this would be a good thing to ask about. Has anybody ever done Lone Scouts or Spiral Scouts? The Boy Scouts and Cub Scouts meet at bad times for us so I was thinking of trying Lone Scouts but I'm not sure about it and was curious. I also found Spiral Scouts and it sounds pretty cool. It doesn't seem there are any in my area from what I have found so far but I'll keep looking. I can start one with only 1-2 families so that's cool. Does anybody know anything about this? I'd love to hear from you and your thoughts about either one.

Our Science Fair Project

The Road Less Traveled held their first annual Science Fair and we joined them in it. It is our Diet Coke bottle, Geyser Tube and tube of Mentos. LOL!

I thought I would also post information on how this works.

Each Mentos chewy mint has thousands of tiny pits all over the surface. These tiny pits are called nucleation sites-perfect places for carbon dioxide bubbles in the soda to form. When the Mentos hit the soda, bubbles form all over the surface of the chewy mints and then quickly rise to the surface of the liquid. Couple this with the fact that the Mentos are heavy and sink to the bottom of the bottle and you've got a double-whammy! When all this gas is released, it literally pushes all of the liquid up and out of the bottle in an incredible soda blast.

Y'all should try it, so much fun!!

1st Annual Science Fair

The Road Less Traveled is having their 1st Annual Science Fair on April 19, 2008. So we gathered around the dry erase board in the living room and I did the first one with both of them guessing letters. It was cold and rainy outside and so warm under the blankets. Of course when I start hearing my youngest yelling "MOM" I know it is time to crawl out of the warmth. I made sausage biscuits (from a can, never can seem to get the recipe right) for breakfast which we all loved. We don't eat much meat anymore unless it is chicken or fish, everything else is veggie so it was a treat for all of us.

We have been having issues with our digital cable and have had them out here 2 times trying to figure out what is wrong. Big jamey called them again this morning because it wasn't working at all and the standard cable tvs all had thick, black lines running through them. Of course, like it has been happening, about an hour after it starts working again is when they show up! Actually we were surprised they came at all on a Sunday so we didn't expect to see them until tomorrow morning. He changed our amplifier so maybe this time it will fix it!

I really need some new recipes, do you have any to share? We like about everything. I need some new ways to make cabbage too, if anybody has any ideas.

Well...

As I'm sitting here and trying to decide what to do for my blog page the phone rings. My husband is calling saying our car won't start and he needs us to come and jump start it. He went into work on a Saturday to get some overtime and all of the guys that came in left at the same time but he was the last to get to the car. I always expect him to call with a break down when he is driving our older car but not the Saturn. So I had to get Conor's car seat out of the shed and into the car, then go to his work. The Saturn got started in no time luckily and we were on our way back home. So now I'm back to cleaning and washing our front drapes.

It's the weekend.

I'm so glad the weekend is here. I've been cleaning a lot this morning already because we have friends coming over later, plus the house just needed it. It always feels good to catch up on things and getting the house to smell good. Does anybody ever catch up on laundry? I probably do at least 1 load a day but when I get backed up it always turns into such a huge pile I never think I'll get caught up again.

Wednesday was a rough day and I tried to come on here and type about it but never made it so I'll talk about it now.

I have been working on designing a website for a woman I have known for several years. She used to drive Jamey to school in Kindergarten along with her daughter plus her mom lives across the street from us. So I started with the website for her new business and it has been very difficult at times dealing with her. She has issues with any bill she gets and that gets so old. We were going to just tell her we couldn't deal with it any longer when Big Jamey called her the other night. I am very thankful for him doing it because I would have said some things I shouldn't have I'm afraid. Our entire day was ruined over this and how she was acting about it. I am so glad to have it over with but I wonder now how this is going to be in the future.

Well I guess I'm off to do some more laundry! I'm still trying to get the hang of this blog and what all I can do with it.

My first post!

Welcome! I am new to blogging but have seen so many awesome sites I wanted to give it a try. It's also a good way to vent or just to talk about our everyday lives. I guess I should tell you about my family and I. I am the baby of 6 children with the next youngest being 9 years older than me and the oldest being about 25 years older. I was born and raised in Charlotte, NC and lived there until I got married to James (probably will be referred to as Big Jamey or other words if I am angry). LOL We have been married for 12 years and have 2 children, moved to Thomasville, NC in 1997 when I was 7 months pregnant. Jamey Jr. was born October 1997 and Conor was born September 2003. We also have 2 dogs, Mesha is a yorkshire terrier and Dottie is a miniature dachshund.

We started homeschooling a few years ago and besides having doubts like most homeschoolers, it has been pretty great. I started a group in our area for field trips, parties and activities, which we love. We just started back on Calvert curriculum again and it really seems to suit us well. Jamey enjoys most of it other than when he has a lot of writing to do. Conor is going to be getting Calvert Kindergarten curriculum soon and is excited about it already. There are so many ways to homeschool and I love hearing about how each family does it.

One of the moms in my homeschool group (she has since moved to Nevada) got me into scrapbooking. Wow, I never knew it was like this or I would have been doing it for a long time! She and two other moms in our group were getting together sometimes to scrapbook and they invited me to come check it out. When we started I had no clue what anything was or even how to cut the paper or stick it to the pages! I am so thankful to her for introducing me to this. I will have to post some pages I have done.

Something else I love to do is cook and bake. I am always looking for new recipes to try out. We did a cherry cobbler for Easter Sunday and it was pretty good. I'm always open for new recipes or recipes pages. I'll post some of our favorites here and will have to think about taking pictures as we make food.

Thank you for coming to my page and hope to see you often!
